Here's how to make some spooky simple Halloween Ghosts!
What you need:
- smooth foam balls
- white tulle
- large paperclips
- wire cutters
- glue
- white thread
- twist ties
- black Sharpie marker
Step 1: Cut a paperclip (carefully) using the wire cutters so it forms a "U" shape.
Step 2: Stick the paperclip into a ball and secure with a dab of glue.
Step 3: Draw a face using the Sharpie.
Step 4: Cut a piece of tulle large enough to drape over the ball and form a long skirt. I used 2 1/2 inch foam balls and my tulle was about 12" square.
Step 5: Cut a small hole in the center of the tulle (just big enough for the paperclip to go through) and drape the tulle over the ball. The dab of glue around the paperclip should secure the tulle. If not add a little more glue.
Step 5: Gather the tulle "skirt" and secure (temporarily) with the twist tie. This will hold the tulle in place so you can tie the thread.
Step 6: Wrap the thread loosely around the base of the ball and tie. The thread should be tight enough that it won't slip up or down but loose enough that the tulle will still have a full, flowy appearance.
Step 7: Attach a second piece of thread to the paperclip and hang to dry (I put them on my shower curtain rod).
Step 8: Choose a location for your ghosts to haunt. I saw the original ghosts that inspired this project hanging from a tree. I have not tested these guys outside so I think mine will go in a window until Halloween night, at which time they will haunt my tomato plants!
Happy Halloween!
